Reaching & Educating At-risk Children

Harnessing the Power of NGOs

More than a third of India’s population is below 14 years of age, making its children its most powerful resource. However, a majority of children in India are born poor and many would never go to school but for the unsung efforts of thousands of NGOs. This project is dedicated to harnessing the power of NGOs.

REACH India believes NGOs have the capacity to develop and implement innovative, context-specific strategies for parents and their children. Indeed, NGOs have been helpful in mobilizing communities, devising alternative schooling solutions, and, in some cases, redefining formal school processes.

The objective of REACH India is to attract and retain disadvantaged children in formal and alternative education programs by strengthening
the capacity of Indian NGOs in selected urban and rural areas.

The two-pronged strategy is basically to:
1. Fund NGOs to deliver educational services to at-risk children
2. Fund NGOs to build the capacity of smaller NGOs for direct delivery
of educational services to at-risk children.
